| Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth: |
| Part of a multi-million pound rejuvenation project for
the historic town of Portsmouth, Gunwharf Quays is an impressive retail
complex built by the Berkeley’s Waterfront Festival Company.
It comprises of a wealth of household-name outlet stores, with contemporary
cafes and bistros overlooking the harbour. Its buildings reflect the
naval background of the town with the boulevard building emulating
the bow of a ship. Each of the cast stone components had to be individually
drawn as the building reclined and reduced in radius as it went higher.
Our experienced fixers liaised continually with our technicians, the
architects and structural engineers to achieve the impressive building
that it is. |

Throughout the complex, cast stone features
effectively blend in with modern designed shops, illustrating how
age-old stone can complement the most innovative architecture. A recent
addition supplied by Priory Cast Stone to the development is a natural
granite plinth sourced from Scotland, incorporating commemorative
brass plaques honouring Naval heroes of the past. |
| The building work is ongoing, with eagerly
sort after residential apartments being added, together with a hotel
to accommodate the vast amount of visitors that are flocking to this
historic town situated in an area which is undergoing extensive redevelopment. |
